Will Houchin is a dynamic music educator specialized in elementary music education and working with students with special needs. He taught in Arizona for 5 years and is now teaching in Somerville Public Schools as well as working towards a Masters in Music Education with a Concentration in Autism at the Boston Conservatory at the Berklee College of Music.
On the performance side of things, Will is primarily a tuba player and was most notably a member of Las Tubas de Tucson which were the winners of the 2010 International Tuba Euphonium Conference Quartet competition. Around Tucson, Mr. Houchin has performed with a diverse range of groups including the Rezonators Brass Band, Original Wildcat Jass Band, Sergio Mendoza y la Orkesta, as well as the band Calexico. In 2012 he recorded both tuba and euphonium on British rocker KT Tunstall’s album Invisible Empire||Crescent Moon available on Blue Note Records.
When not playing the tuba or teaching, Will dabbles in graphic design, creating posters, book covers and album art for musicians and publishing companies alike. In his scant free time, Will can be found on the saddle of his bike, riding all over the streets and trails of New England.
